Keepsakes for later · Wedding morning

A message for the morning of their wedding, recorded now

You don't know the date yet. You might not know the person yet. You know what you'd want to say to them that morning, and you can say it now — a video, a voice note or a letter — and leave it waiting. When the day is set, you give it the date, and it arrives by private link while they're getting ready.

Kept exactly as you leave it, for as long as it takes; nobody can open it early. Your first three keepsakes are free; $59 once unlocks unlimited, and nothing ever renews.

How it works for a wedding morning

1

Record

Say it the way you'd say it in the doorway that morning: what you see when you look at them, what you hope for the two of them, the one thing you'd tell them about marriage. A minute is plenty. Add to it over the years.

2

Choose the day

Leave it unaddressed until there's a date — a keepsake with no date is stored and never sent. When the invitations go out, give it the morning of the wedding and the address it should reach them at.

3

It arrives

That morning, one plain email with a private link, from you. They open it where they are; it stays there for them, and you see it marked delivered.

What to say to them on their wedding morning, for later

Openers, not scripts. A minute is plenty, and it doesn't have to be the big one — start with the thing you'd want them to hear on an ordinary day.

  • I'm recording this when you're nine and you've just announced you're never getting married. We'll see.
  • On the morning of your wedding: the day you were born was the best one, until today.
  • Here's the only advice I'd ask you to check everything against: be the one who apologises first.
  • Your mother and I on our wedding morning, in a photo you've never seen, and what I was thinking.
  • Whoever you're marrying, I already like them, because you chose them.
  • You asked me once what love looks like after thirty years. It looks like coffee brought upstairs. Start there.
  • I don't know if I'll be in the room this morning. I'm in this. Listen to it twice.
  • Three things your grandmother said about marriage, which she made me promise to pass on.
  • If you're nervous, good. The ones who aren't nervous haven't understood the question.
  • Go and get married. We'll be the ones crying in the second row, or wherever you've put us.

Questions people ask

There's no wedding planned. Can I still record it?

Yes — that's how most of these begin. A keepsake with no date is stored and never sent. Record it now, while you'd say it this way, and give it the date years later when there is one.

What if I'm not there that morning?

It still goes out on its date, with no one's intervention. The email says when you recorded it and makes no claim about you. We chose dates because they need nobody to verify anything and no one to get a hard call wrong.

Can I change it when the day comes closer?

Right up until it's delivered, yes — re-record it, add to it, or delete it. Once it's been opened it's theirs, and can't be changed or recalled.

What about the person they're marrying?

Address a second keepsake to them, or to the two of them together, on the same morning. Each recipient gets their own private link.

Years may pass. Will it still be there?

That's the point of choosing a date. You can download everything you've recorded at any time, we check the addresses with you once a year, and if we ever wound the service down every author would get twelve months' notice and their export.

Can the grandparents record one too?

Yes, from their own page; the gift link is the easy way to give them one. A wedding morning can have keepsakes waiting from several people.

What does it cost?

Your first three keepsakes are free. $59 once unlocks unlimited keepsakes and people for good — no renewals, because a keepsake for a wedding morning might wait twenty years. Or someone can give it to you as a gift.
