A 90th birthday gift from four generations

Ninety is the birthday where the room holds great-grandchildren and friends from seventy years back, and not all of them can be there. KeepSakePage gathers a message from each of them — video, voice, a written note, a photo — and the friends who'd rather talk simply phone it in. The best moments become a short film for the party.

The film is cut for a room where people need to hear every word: clear captions, one voice at a time. Afterwards the whole collection lives on a private page they keep. Free during the beta; you ask for an invite and we send a code.

How it works for a 90th birthday

1

Collect

One private link for the family, and the phone number for the friends who'd rather call — at ninety, that may be most of them. The grandchildren can record the great-grandchildren. Nothing is visible to the birthday person.

2

Cut

Approve the messages, add a song from their twenties, and let the director cut the film: the best moment from each, the best line from every note, with the old photos between. Every line is captioned on screen.

3

Play it at the party

Full screen on the TV, with the sound up, after the cake. Then hand the family the link: every message, theirs to keep.

What to say in a 90th birthday message

Borrow one, or let it remind you of your own. Thirty seconds is plenty; the director keeps the best moment.

  • Ninety years. You've known this town longer than the street names. Happy birthday.
  • Grandma, I'm your fourth great-grandchild and I'm told I have your stubbornness. Thank you for that.
  • We met in 1958 and you still beat me at cards. Happy 90th, old friend.
  • Dad, at ninety you still ask whether I've eaten. For the record: yes, and it's because of you.
  • Here's the recipe you taught me, made properly, so you can grade it.
  • You held every one of us the day we were born. Today we're holding you up.
  • Happy 90th from the nursing-home staff who voted you 'most likely to be out past curfew'.
  • You told me the secret to a long life was to keep moving and keep forgiving. I'm working on the second one.
  • Nana, I'm recording this from the kitchen you taught me to cook in. The pot is still the same pot.
  • Ninety, and the best stories at the table are still yours. Tell the one about the boat.

Questions people ask

What's a good 90th birthday gift?

Everyone who loves them, saying so, in a form they can watch again. A KeepSakePage gathers a message from four generations and old friends and turns the best moments into a short, captioned film for the party; the family keeps every message afterwards.

Most of their friends don't use the internet. Can they still take part?

Yes, and this is the occasion the phone line was built for. They call a number, hear the birthday person's name in the greeting, and talk after the tone. It lands on the page transcribed, ready for the film.

Will they be able to follow the film?

Every line is captioned on screen, the clips play one voice at a time, and you choose the length. Play it on the TV with the sound up; a family member sitting beside them helps.

How far ahead should we start?

Four weeks for a 90th; the older contributors take a little longer, and their stories are worth waiting for. Reminders go out with one tap, and a late message can be added without re-cutting from scratch.

Can we include photos from the whole life?

Yes. Anyone can add photos with their message, and the organizer can add more. The director places them between the clips, so the wedding photo from 1958 sits beside the great-grandchildren.

Will they see anything before the party?

No. You approve every message and the page stays private until you reveal it.

What does the family keep?

The whole page — every message, every photo, the film — and a downloadable archive, so it outlives the party and any website.
